First Assembly of God at Firewheel, Firewheel Christian Academy, and Mother’s Day Out is dedicated to ministering to children and their families. M.D.O. is not a daycare. The mission of Mother's Day Out is to provide ministry to young children and their families by providing a safe, loving environment, maintaining quality adult leadership, utilizing developmentally appropriate material and activities, and interacting with the community.
MDO is based on a developmental philosophy in which play is considered to be a child's most important job. Through play, children experience the world around them. We provide a large variety of play experiences for the children through outdoor activities, books, music, art, exploration and investigative opportunities. Children are by nature curious individuals and the staff works very hard at developing curriculum that will stimulate and offer a wide variety of discoveries for your child. Age appropriate learning activities are a part of the daily program for all children. Physical and emotional needs are considered along with developing basic skills for responsible living in our society. Through motivation and imagination, children develop concepts of size, color, texture, numbers, etc. Creative activities (using paint, clay, crayons, fabric, paste, etc.) not only develop the child's motor control but also give him/her a sense of achievement and pride in his/her work. The use of music, finger plays and exercising to music develop coordination and motor control within group activities. Playtime incorporates many learning activities.
Through our Mother’s Day Out and K-4 Program we endeavor to accomplish this to our younger children. By introducing pre-school concepts, Bible truths, music, interactive play and enrichment activities, we strive to provide a solid foundation for future learning experiences.
Our teachers incorporate the above activities in the time they spend with the children. In this manner we are able to provide quality learning situations. We believe that in this way we are better able to minister to the developmental needs of children.
